We are looking for a creative, highly organized Geographic Director of Planning responsible for overseeing complex planning projects, lead business development activities to grow the planning discipline in Michigan, working with other satellite offices to grow planning throughout the Midwest, and serve as the geographic director of OHM Michigan Planning Studio.                                   

Responsibilities and Tasks:  

Grow Planning Discipline

  • Grow a network of clients and partners
  • Participate in related professional groups, conferences and local organizations in support of business development and networking
  • Attend conferences and lead speaking engagement to help establish OHM Advisors as leaders in planning in the MI market
  • Develop a yearly geographic-based or discipline business plan to fit with the company's overall business plan
  • Coordinate and work with other OHM Advisors' disciplines to further the company's efforts to be a fully integrated AEP firm

Complete Successful Planning Projects

  • Manage multifaceted professional planning projects, research and analysis
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws
  • Advise various councils, boards, commissions and elected officials in planning-related issues
  • Assign work to professional staff and ensure appropriate training is provided
  • Prepare project budgets, monitor and control expenditures

Personnel Management

  • Plan, as part of the yearly business plan, and implement decisions related to personnel
  • Track, establish and achieve budgeted staff utilization levels
  • Provide guidance to planning staff to ensure professional growth and quality work

  • 4 year degree or higher in planning and urban design or a related field
  • Minimum of 15 years experience and a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
  • AICP Certification preferred
  • Proficient in all applicable software applications needed to perform quality planning duties
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Established thought leader in planning in the Michigan market
